Meet the Founder.

I’ve been fibbing… GilbeyPink isn’t a ‘we’… it’s a ‘me’. Hi, I’m Jonny.

Jonny Gilbey.

Hi, I'm Jonny. I founded GilbeyPink in its first form eight years ago. Back then it was a freelancing alias while I completed my studies. I retired the name and shifted my focus to corporate London.

A common trait amongst practitioners I respected was their setting, so I got an entry level position in Canary Wharf. Before I knew it, I was the UK internal media operations executive at American Express Global Business Travel, which is where the habit of tying marketing to numbers came from.

It was around this time I began guest lecturing on the MA in Fashion Marketing course at Regent's University. Having only ever achieved a BA myself, the impostor syndrome set in. But after a successful run and nodding heads from the powers that be, I was invited back into what has become a yearly practice.

The next milestone was, in a lot of ways, a step back. I was offered a promotion into 'EMEA Regional Sales'. A major salary increase, a bonus and a clear path leading to one of the highest paid positions in the company.

I turned it down and went travelling in Asia (although my LinkedIn profile says 'I was expanding my international portfolio'). I had become acutely aware that the financial success I had so far defined myself by was beginning to wear thin.

Upon my return, I started freelancing again, now armed with a wealth of new knowledge, and I found immediate success in my area of expertise. Hitting targets well ahead of schedule, I have grown GilbeyPink into what it is today. A two year old business, eight years in the making.

P.S. The photography, video and drone work we do is all done by me. It's the work I love and while it does not scale especially well, I'll keep offering it anyway. It's not all about spreadsheets, aye?

Why one name
on the door matters.

The complaint people bring us about agencies is almost always the same one. The founder pitches, and then the work goes to somebody junior who is holding several other accounts at once.

An account manager here holds a maximum of three clients, across non-competing industries. That number is the whole business model rather than a nice line, and it is why we turn work away and why we only ever act for one business per comp-set.

It also means there is nobody to hide behind when a number does not move, which is the arrangement we would want if we were buying this.

No account manager, no gatekeeper, no deck. A call to work out whether there is anything here worth doing.
